Resurrection sponsors new Liverpool Award

Some cities have wonderful pop music histories, some might be lucky enough to enjoy successful periods in the future, but few can confidently say, they have both.

Liverpool is one of a select bunch of cities that can. Like London, New York, Chicago, Detroit and Los Angeles, it can accurately claim to have changed the complexion of modern music.

Now, a new prize, the GIT Award (named after the popular local music blog Getintothis - www.getintothis.co.uk), is about to recognise the best of the future crop of Liverpool musicians who may go on to do what Scousers have been doing for more than half a century – changing the course of history.

As award-winning writer and Word Magazine associate editor Paul Du Noyer, author of the peerless history of the city’s pop music culture, Liverpool Wondrous Place, says, “Music is not just the heritage but the heartbeat of Liverpool.”

But, it’s not just about rock and roll and the guitar bands the city has mostly been famed for, the GIT Award will celebrate Liverpool's current rich musical diversity. From the thriving hip hop scene to its electronica artists, from its long-established country and roots community to punk, folk and metal, the GIT Award is open to all.

Peter Guy, Liverpool ECHO journalist and editor of Getintothis, says, “Think of it as the Scouse Mercury Prize - but, the only criteria being that it has a clear connection with Liverpool; ie: the record was made, produced or recorded by Liverpudlians. "Unlike the Mercurys, there will be a transparent judging panel and as many grass roots musicians won't record a full album during the course of a year, we're asking for four tracks be submitted to be eligible for entry - think of it as an old school four-track EP."

And the prize? It's a little belter. Sandhills Studio is offering a day's free recording time with a top producer, while the winners will play next year's Liverpool Sound City and Liverpool Music Week.

Vce Magazine, meanwhile, has asked Getintothis to promote an exclusive gig at their London-based bar, The Old Blue Last, featuring the winners. On top of this, film-maker Ian Gamester, who has been shortlisted for the prestigious Virgin Media Shorts film, will make the band's video promo which will be screened in FACT’s boutique Box cinema for the winners and their nearest and dearest.

Further goodies from sponsors will be announced in the coming months.

The GIT Award will have an official launch at Liverpool Music Week's spectacular closing party at the Contemporary Urban Centre on November 11 with the 12 nominees announced next spring before the winner is unveiled days before Liverpool Sound City 2012 where they will feature on the Getintothis stage.

In the meantime, spread the word, The GIT Award is officially ON - musicians, bands and creative types everywhere, send your four tracks to getintothis@gmail.com or alternatively post to Peter Guy, The GIT Award, Liverpool Daily Post & ECHO, PO Box 48, Old Hall Street, Liverpool, L693EB. If you're a business and would like to get involved with the GIT Award, please email getintothis@gmail.com

You're Werth it... (sorry)

Last week may have gone out with a bang but that’s no reason to write off this one. Here at Resurrection, we’ve got an unfathomable amount of goodies to make this week just as explosive.

The new range of coats from Peter Werth have arrived in store. From their classic Reefer Jacket through to their exceedingly well-cutMilitary Jackets, it’s a one-stop shop to your new winter coat.

We’ve also had some new lines from new cult favorites, Trainer Spotter, our favourite being the Rubicks Grenade tee (pictured). Strong colours, great graphic print, winter needn't be a drab affair.

Shoe fans need not fret; we’ve had a massive vans order as well as new stock fromSperry and Pointer. Items of note include the Pointer Debaser in navy, the Vans charcoal Moc’s, and the Sperry Bahamas in grey. Keep an eye out for the new Sperry boots fresh from the Shipyard range. They should be up online in the next few days.

We’ve had some great new ladies piece in too, and the good news for those of you who can’t make it to the store is that we’ll be having a ladies photo shoot very soon, meaning you can experience as much of the Resurrection magic as they boys get to! Motel, Ruby Rocks, Sugarhill, Reverse, all the essential brands and with free delivery for orders over £30, you can’t go wrong.

We’re still offering 10% off your next order when you sign up to our site. Make sure you like us onFacebook and follow us on Twitter to keep up-to-date with prizes, new stock and general brilliance as it happens. Our blog’s not bad either. X

Register with us and get 10% your next order!

Now we’re done spending all our available funds on capes, fake blood and wigs, it’s time to put the finishing touches to our autumn attire. The season has finally changed, and although we were sunbathing just last month, gloves are almost rudimentary and footwear that lets in water just won’t cut it.

One way to brighten the fact it’s dark for more of the day than it’s light is a shiny new purchase. The new stock from Chunk, the purveyors of cult apparel with a humorous twist, are back with a new range of tees to tickle your funny bone. If you’re after some fictitious characters getting on with their lives outside the confines of the story that catapulted them to fame, then this is the brand for you. Take the Darkside Racing tee; it sees Star Wars characters on a racetrack, while the Ghost Train tee sees one of the ghosts from Pac Man living it large on some underground tracks.

Two Angle in now in store and it’s great. The brand’s ‘Baby’ tees are back, and the second wave features hip hop icons such as Snoop andPublic Enemy... as babies. It works, it just sound weird in print! Other highlights are the ‘Mabon Jacket’. This gilet has it going on in all the right areas, from the plaid detailing on the shoulders, to the fact it’s the warmest way to add a little style to your wardrobe this side of a massive coat.

Footwear-wise, we’ve had a load of high-end styles in for your perusal. Sperry’s Shipyard range is now in store. The ‘Longshoreman Chukka’ and ‘Rigger Boots’ definitely get our vote.

The ladies needn’t feel left out. Our current stock is getting so much airtime on the television you’d be hard-pushed not to be dressed like a celeb if you’re a Resurrection regular. The X-Factor judges and contestants have all been pictured in Motel and Sugarhill designs in store now. Now Magazine has jumped on the ‘loving everything we ordered for A/W11 bandwagon’, making the Motel ‘Renne’ dress one of its party dresses of the season. It’s great being right!

We’ve got competitions coming out of our ears at the moment. For those of you who haven’t ‘liked’ our official Facebook page, there’s £100 of store credit in it for you if you’re fan number XX. We’re nearing the number, get on it. For those who’ve had the sense to join already, ‘Guess The Celeb’ for your chance to win £100 of store credit. There’s a new clue each day!

Our good ol' pals at Hollyoaks

This week we caught up once again with our good pals over at Hollyoaks wardrobe department.

Calvin Denba who plays cheeky new fresher Scott Sabeka popped in with the show’s senior stylist to grab some funky tee’s and bulk up his characters wardrobe for winter. Leaving with some of our latest season steals.

The pair grabbed themselves a couple of bargains with the
Trainer Spotter Grenade Tee
in White, as well as a DMC world roots of Hip Hop crewneck in Black. To finish off their spree the duo refused to leave without our new heavy duty Carhartt Hickman Parka in Navy. Perfect for keeping Scott toastie during those long days on set!

Keep your eyes peeled for more Resurrection goodies on Hollyoaks screens this week!

Tulisa's Paris Night... In London

It would be safe to say that this weekend's X-factor got just a little bit heated! ...But leaving the show on Sunday night Tulisa still looked as cool as anything.

It seems that it isn't just Motel that have been whipping up a storm amongst the X-factor gang, with Sugarhill Boutique getting in on the action too.

After a tense Sunday night results show, feisty new judge Tulisa was giving Kelly a run for her money in the style stakes, being spotted leaving the studio's sporting Sugarhill Boutique's limited addition Paris Nights playsuit.

The playsuit was first seen at last years live shows (in black) worn by one of our favorite regular's, Rebecca Ferguson, cementing it's self as a firm X-factor favorite.

To get your mits on your very own version make sure to pay us a visit. Keep your eyes peeled for the rest of the new Sugarhill Boutique collection, including the Deery Me Playsuit, the Mellow Meadow and the KissKiss!

Rejoice! Motel has made it to the big screen!..

Rejoice! Motel has made it to the big screen!.. Well the small screen really, but X-factor is the biggest show on it!

This weekend was a big one for Motel, making hardcore fans out of budding girl group 'Rhythmix', with the girls between them racking up not one but two Motel outfits over the weekend of live shows.

Leigh-anne kicked off our Motel TV extravaganza on Saturday night sporting the vibrant, block printed, body-con Kylie skirt before adding a youthful and flirtacious feel with an oversized kiss print Tilly Crop tee.

Clearly seething with jealousy at all the Motel goodies Leigh-anne had blagged, Jade grabbed her own black, leopard print heart Faye tee for Sunday nights live results show.

If your finding yourself just as jealous as Jade, No Fear!!! ...Resurrection has a brand spanking delivery of all things Motel. With the girls weekend threads decorating our rails it would be quite frankly rude not to pay us a visit.

God Save McQueen.

Jonny Clarke, better known as Bart McQueen in Hollyoaks has been a bit of a regular down these parts recently.

After popping in with the shows senior stylist to pick some stock for the show,
which included four pairs of our best selling Sid Pants byCarhartt, returned the next day to nab two more pairs for himself. His character, Bart, was also treated to the Fila Downhill jumper and Rutworth Polo, as well as a load of our Vintage Adidas tracksuit and cycling tops.

Resurrection is a favourite with Hollyoaks stylists, with many of this week's new character's wardrobes coming from the store. As soon as we see the pictures, we'll be sure to pass them on!

I'll take the cold heart, thanks...

Being blessed with below average circulation, I've become more than bored with the old wives tale that having blocks of ice for feet and hands makes me more loving. Not only does it mean that I'm unable to put on moisturiser in the winter without blasting my hands with a hairdryer first, many a romantic moment has been ruined by the
object of my affection shreiking like he's just fallen through a hole in the ice as my skin touches his. So if there's a practical AND fashionable way of getting around this, I am most definitely in.

This year, my feet will be firmly encased within these beauties. New in to Resurrection and my heart, meet the Dr
Martens 'Billie' boots. Part of the
brand's modern classics range, the boot features all the DM staples we've come to love, such as the stitched (not glued), air-cushioned, rubber soul and lightly textured leather, but, and here's the clincher, these are fur-lined.

Though the moisturiser problem will remain, at least my feet will no longer give me reason to believe I'm an actual , bona fide member of the X-Men. If only Dr Martens made gloves...

20% Off All Boxfresh...

There's a massive 20% off all Boxfresh on our online store this week, a great time to get your wardrobe set for winter.

The new range of Boxfresh coats and shoes has been making waves with it's clean lines, durable practicality and, perhaps most importantly, super-stylish cuts and colours. Take the rather wonderful Bristols Jacket. Classic styling, with full-check lining, but with the added bonus of some well-placed cord detail. Who needs Barbour?

Their shoe range is a bit of
something else, too. The Zelos (pictured left) combined all the functionality of a utility style boot with an urban suaveness.

The Khyke-2 boot (right), complete with Tartan lining, is winter perfect attire. The suede boot features a foam and rubber soul, a padded collar and two-speed hook fastening. Get them on, and get out there.

There's the Bactercide jacket, Boxfresh's
take on a Harrington, with drawstring hood with contrast interior pattern, check flannel lining and knitted ribbed hem and cuffs. Yes please.

Finally, the Bonosus jacket is the tank in the Boxfresh arsenal. The ultimate British street heavy puffer-jacket come complete with cosy, check flannel lining. It boasts a detachable hood and front patch pockets, not to be messed with

Resurrection presents... The Merc Harrington

We thought it'd be nice for you to familiarise yourself with one of our all-time best-sellers.

We proudly present... the Merc Harrington jacket.

The Harrington has long been a wardrobe staple of the stylish. The waist-length, lightweight jacket sprung into our lives in the 1930's, becoming popular when Elvis Presley wore the Baracuta G9 in the 1958 movie 'King Creole'.

And the name? Harrington jackets coined their name from the 1960s soap Peyton Place, where the main character, Rodney Harrington, was never seen out of one.

Mods, skinheads, revitalists, scooter boys and your average Joe Bloggs have all made the Harrington a vital part of their look. Merc's take on the jacket features the classic red check lining, heavy, hard-wearing cotton, two buttoned pockets, an inside breast pocket and stand-up collar with two buttons.

Smart yet casual, it's no surprise some companies are still producing the same model they were in the 1930's. You don't need to mess with perfection...

Outfit of the Week.

Be sure to check out the 'Outfit Of The Week' page on our online store. If you like looking at pictures of Sam, aren't sure how to put an outfit together, or just need something to do, then this is your page. As the title suggests, we'll be updating it weekly!

Get your coat, you've pulled.

The fact that many of us ended up sunbathing on October 1st is no reason to neglect the search for the perfect winter coat. You know the rule, for every sunny day England gets 40 cold and damp ones.

The Carhartt Chore coat has returned to save the day. Sturdy as hell, with blanket lining in the body, quilted nylon lining in the sleeves and corduroy top collar with under-collar snaps to attach an optional hood, the Chore gets in done. It's just arrived in store. Good times.

The Watch Bobble hat has finally made it to Resurrection too, we've been waiting anxiously by the door for these guys. Not too loud, amazingly warm, and the cherry on the top being the all important bobble, it's a winter staple.

The Carhartt Anchorage Parka in navy and Cypress has also landed this week. It keeps you warm, really warm. That's probably due to it being lined. The fur on the collar is removable. We even sold a few when the temperature was scorching outside. On the plus side, you could always use it to sunbathe on if the weather makes another turn for the tropical...

We've also been blessed with the Duck University Sweater in Eggplant and Navy. The tees flew out of store at the start of the summer, we expect their warmer counterparts to do much the same this winter. Get yours now.

Don't forget our Carhartt competition to win an outfit worth £100 is still on this week.

Keep an eye on our blog for a sneak peak at our new wares from Ringspun, Cheap Monday and Amplified.

Follow us on Facebook and Twitter to keep up to date with all our competitions and news.
